If Wishes Were Horses

You can now vote for and buy my new 'If Wishes Were Horses' cushion over on the Ohh Dear website. Just click here.

I painted this design with the horse mad little girl in mind (just like I used to be.) It has 10 horses in different colours, so whether bays, chestnuts, palomino's or appaloosa's are her thing, she will love it. She can name each of them and cuddle up with them as she falls asleep.

These cushions are made out of a gorgeous faux suede, and are very plump and soft. Those of you who bought my Wildflower cushion last year will attest to the excellent quality. Be sure to check out some of the other designs as there are some gorgeous ones, and you make great savings when you buy 2 or more. (Or just, you know, buy 4 of mine for all your horsey friends!)

Feedback

It's lovely getting feedback from people who have bought some of my products. Here are some photos of my cushions that were made for part of Ohh Dear's Pillow Fight. They came out so well. I hope to have an entry in the next Pillow Fight, so don't worry if you missed out last time.

Frozen Planet Christmas Cards

"If Antarctica were music it would be Mozart. Art, and it would be Michelangelo. Literature, and it would be Shakespeare. And yet it is something even greater; the only place on earth that is still as it should be. May we never tame it."
Andrew Denton

This year I decided that, as a someone with a degree in Illustration, I should really design my own Christmas cards. But, as my friends know, I'm not a massively Christmassy person. All that red and green cliche stuff, that's not me. I would have painted from the nativity scene, but it's been so overdone and I couldn't find a new angle for it. So I was watching Frozen Planet one day, and that inspired me for these wintery scenes. Not massively Christmassy, but a little bit different. What do you think?

Her White Hart

The White Beast has me in his eye, I cannot escape him.

There are several reasons for the title of this blog; firstly 'hart' is an amalgamation of my name and 'art, i.e Hannah's Art or 'H.Art'; secondly I've lived most of my life in the town of Hertford, so called because it is the place where four rivers meet and the hart came to drink at the ford. Don't ask me why it's spelt with an 'e', that's just bonkers English spelling for you.

The final, and main reason, is because during my wild country life (okay, I'm exaggerating a little bit there) I have been, on several occasions, attacked and chased by a white deer. Not kidding. We have a lot of very big deer around here, I believe they are Sika deer or some kind of Red deer relation, and not only are the enormous but they also appear to have a genetic mutation which regularly throws out creamy albino deer.

I have survived my deer attacks largely due to the scope and speed of my bonnie pony, Stroller, who has nimbly escaped the antlers, but I have a lasting attachment to the creature that is so elusive and unicorn-like.
Also, as you may have guessed, I just really like drawing deer.
